We're Leaving on a Jet Plane

With about two weeks before we leave Singapore and our official farewell parties over it's all starting to get a bit real now. One of the next things I need to do is to attempt to de-clutter and get rid of clothes I really don't wear anymore. All of our stuff here is going into storage for now until we know for definite exactly where we'll be in the longer term so we are just going back with suitcases. Whilst having packers in to pack everything takes a lot of the work out of it for us, I can only hope they are efficient as those who packed up our stuff and those who unpacked once we arrived here, I still feel a need to get rid of some things. As well as decide what I'll pack clothes wise and what can be stored. Day to day I am now also starting to try and limit what I buy from the supermarket, trying to use up things we have, trade in loyalty points, visit favourite places (and a couple of must do's I desperately wanted to see), eat favourite foods etc. one more time.

Perhaps most important of all is making sure that everything goes smoothly for our cat who is also moving back to the UK with us. We got him in Singapore so he and us have never been through this experience before. We've got friends who've relocated their animals to various other places and over to here so we've, of course, been asking lots of questions but still doing it for real ourselves is a little nerve wracking. We've also had friends who have organised the whole process themselves but we opted to ease a little of the stress and use a pet relocation company, who've been incredibly helpful. Before George (our cat) can enter the UK he needed to be micro-chipped, have a rabies jab and a general health check. Obviously we also need to supply evidence of his general jab history too. If you are reading this and planning to relocate your pet somewhere please do check the various Government websites associated with the country you are moving to, don't rely on this as requirements are different from country to country, animal to animal and change all the time! He now also has a flight approved crate which, at the moment, he seems quite happy to explore. I think that could change after his flight though. We opted to buy a brand new one as it is likely we may be relocating again at some stage, one less thing to worry about in the future. It is pretty big but gives him plenty of room to stand up, lie down, turn around etc.

He goes for one final check up next week and then he'll spend his last night in Singapore in a cattery (his own personal staycation) as he is on a different, slightly later flight than us. Once he arrives in London and the necessary paperwork is done he can be collected the same day. Thankfully there are no quarantine requirements between Singapore and the UK.

As for us, well everything there will all come out in the wash as they say. I'm definitely much more concerned about everything going smoothly for George. If things go a bit random for us - we'll survive! Fingers crossed though these last two weeks will be relatively stress free.

If I don't manage to post again on this blog however before we leave Singapore I'll see you once we get back to the UK. Finally if you want to know what I've been doing (and am still doing) in Singapore check out my Singapore blog, here.
